The Leeds United boss wants another striker in the upcoming transfer window and could also strengthen other areas.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk has been speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post about his January transfer plans.
The Whites are currently in the play-off places in the Championship, pushing hard for a return to the top flight after far too long away.
Their 2-0 victory against Reading earlier this week was another step in the right direction. However there is a concern among the fans that if Chris Wood is ruled out for any length of time between now and May, it could end the club’s chances of a return to the Premier League.
Speaking to the YEP about the areas Leeds are looking to strengthen next month, Monk said, “Striker’s one area, definitely. I said that in the summer and it is one area we need to strengthen.
“There are other areas too but I’m sure the club’s working hard to address those situations. For now, I just focus on the group I’ve got.”
Leeds have an impressive squad at their disposal yet there is no doubt they could do with additional quality additions in key areas to ensure there is no disappointment come May.
If Leeds get it right in the upcoming transfer window, and maintain their fine form in 2017, they could be back among the big boys with a group of players ready to kick on.
