Leeds United have entertained their fans this season with some fantastic displays.
Leeds booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Cambridge United yesterday, and Whites boss Garry Monk explained how, although he was pleased with his side’s progression, they must learn to be smarter in regards to where they play their passing game, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The West Yorkshire outfit have far exceeded expectations form the start of the season, and currently sit in fifth position in the Championship table, just seven points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.

And much of the credit for their impressive campaign has to go to Monk, for the attractive brand of football that he has implemented at Elland Road.
The former Swansea City manager praised his side for their performance last night, but highlighted an area in which they must learn to be more street-wise, as quoted by LeedsUnited.com:
“We were trying to play our football, but we weren’t doing it smart enough, we were doing it too much around our 18 yard box and too deep in our half. My team talk at half time was very different to the one at Rotherham United, you can see sometimes the team need a rocket and sometimes they just need a talk, we just talked about how we needed to be smarter and credit to the players.”

Monk’s men now have to turn their focus back to the Championship, with a huge game against seventh placed Derby County on the horizon, before games against Barnsley, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers.
And if they can emerge from that period with a series of wins under their belt, Leeds fans will be thinking that automatic promotion is a genuine possibility.
