The Leeds boss is preparing his players for a clash with Liverpool.

Leeds United take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup quarter-finals tomorrow evening in a game considered as one of the biggest in the Championship club’s recent history.

With that in mind there is no doubt that Leeds fans are extra excited about heading to Anfield to take on a team the size of Liverpool in front of such an impressive crowd.

However, whilst the excitement around the game is high, the Leeds boss Garry Monk is keeping his feet on the ground.

He insists he is excited for games, no matter who Leeds are facing. He says watching the Leeds group grow is in fact the most exciting thing about his role as Leeds United head coach, telling TV Yorkshire:

“I’m always excited. It’s been great coming into the club, every game.

“It doesn’t matter who we are playing against. My job really is to see this group growing. That’s what excites me the most is seeing this group growing.

“Seeing the work we do day-in and day-out come onto the pitch. I want these guys to improve, to be successful and that’s what excites me.”

Leeds United’s talented players have certainly been something of a revelation this season. Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira for example have truly started to come of age.

But Monk means the whole group as an entirety when he discusses his excitement at the first-team at Leeds.

Elland Road has not been as exciting as it is right now for some time. Hopefully that excitement can build at Anfield tomorrow.
