The Whites skipper missed the game after limping out of the midweek win over Blackburn.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Garry Monk has explained to BBC Radio Leeds that Liam Bridcutt narrowly missed out on being available for Leeds United’s trip to Cardiff City and insisted that he’s hopeful that he will back for their next game.
The United skipper had to be taken off just minutes into the second-half of the Whites’ crucial clash with Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday, and while Monk was initially confident that the 27-year-old would be involved against the Bluebirds (via Yorkshire Evening Post), he ultimately missed out on being included in the matchday squad.

But Monk has explained that he was not far away from being ready for the game in South Wales, and hinted that he should be ready to face Rovers in the EFL Cup this coming Tuesday.
“I hope so,” he told BBC Radio Leeds when asked whether the holding midfielder will be ready to face Blackburn.

“He really only just missed out on this trip just because there’s still a little bit of swelling so we didn’t want to risk him.”
While Bridcutt’s importance to the team was illustrated by the decision to give him the armband in the wake of Sol Bamba’s departure, it appeared that the Peacocks were able to cope without him against Cardiff.
Leeds face Blackburn at Elland Road in the EFL Cup on Tuesday
Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane performed very well in front of the back four against Paul Trollope’s men as Leeds claimed a 2-0 victory to create some more daylight between themselves and the bottom three.
Nevertheless, the Scotland international is undoubtedly the kind of player that Monk’s men will need to stay fit if they hope to move themselves even further up the table, so it seems likely that if he is fit, he will play at least some part against Blackburn in preparation for the home game with Ipswich next Saturday.
