Leeds United won against Rotherham United at Elland Road in the Championship on Monday.

Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has explained to BBC Sport (17:23) why he introduced Ronaldo Vieira into the game against Rotherham United.

The Whites returned to winning ways in the Championship with a 3-0 victory over Rotherham at home on Monday afternoon.

After a goalless first half at Elland Road, Kyle Bartley put the hosts ahead just two minutes into the second period.

Chris Wood doubled the advantage for Leeds on 66 minutes and wrapped up the scoring with his second 11 minutes from full time.

Vieira, who is 18 years of age and operates as a midfielder, came on as a substitute at the start of the season half.

The talented and promising teenager played a crucial role in the win, and Monk has explained his decision to bring him on.

“We looked disjointed everywhere, first half, so I made the change – Ronnie [Ronaldo Vieira] injected some energy and emergency that the other players fed off, and they went together,” Monk told BBC Sport (17:23).

“We were more fluid and attacked well, were stronger at set-pieces at both end. That second half was much more like ourselves.”
