Leeds United’s seven-game unbeaten run was ended at the Madejski Stadium yesterday.

Whites boss Garry Monk spoke to reporters after his side’s disappointing 1-0 defeat at Reading yesterday, and highlighted how much of a detrimental effect international breaks have had on his side’s campaign so far this season, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Leeds now sit in fifth position in the Championship table, after being leapfrogged by Jaap Stam’s Reading yesterday.
The West Yorkshire outfit are still in a very strong position, however, and currently hold a six point advantage over seventh placed Sheffield Wednesday, with just seven games remaining.
There have been plenty of ups and downs at Elland Road this season, but the Leeds boss deserves a tremendous amount of credit for the manner in which he has gone about his business since his appointment as manager.
And Monk spoke to reporters in the aftermath of yesterday’s defeat to the Royals, jokingly suggesting that he is glad to see the back of the international breaks, as quoted by Sky Sports:

“The international breaks haven’t been too kind for us coming out of them, but no look, the lads are working incredibly hard, and have had a fantastic season up to now.”
Leeds have now lost all four games upon returning to action following the international breaks this season.
Defeats to Huddersfield Town, Derby County, Newcastle United and now Reading could prove costly come the end of the season.
And Monk will be grateful that there are no more international games that will disrupt Leeds’ campaign.
