The Hillsborough boss will be able to utilise the Owls striker’s services once again starting this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk has praised Fernando Forestieri for the “fantastic” attitude he’s shown since the Englishman took the reins at Hillsborough as well as his talents, deeming him “devastating” at Championship level.
The Owls striker has just completed a six-game Football Association ban and is now available for selection by the Wednesday coaches, having scored on his return to action for the Under-23s last Sunday.
Forestieri’s last outing for the Owls first team was in August, meaning he is yet to feature under Monk at Wednesday, so tomorrow’s Championship trip to Cardiff City will be the first chance for the Argentine to impress his new boss.
“Fernando’s attitude has been fantastic and he has worked very hard,” Monk told the Wednesday media team. “It’s a big positive we have him back and now it’s his job to get back to the levels we know he is capable of… he’s trained well, worked hard and now he’s available. Fernando can be devastating at this level. The next step is for him to take his opportunities when they come.”

Elaborating further in quotes published by the Yorkshire Post, the Hillsborough manager added: “I am delighted he is available. We all know the quality he has and we want him to step up and show that.
“From what I have seen of him, he seems in the right frame of mind to try and do that but it is another thing being able to go out on the pitch and do it. We are here to help him and support him. He will be available and like all the others it is for him to fight for that shirt and put himself in the team.”
Forestieri joined Wednesday from Watford in 2015 for an undisclosed fee reported by Transfermarkt as being £3.7million and, in 119 appearances, he has scored 38 goals and claimed 17 assists.
