Leeds United will take on Wigan Athletic away from home at the DW Stadium in the final Championship game of the season on Sunday.

Ahead of the match, Leeds United manager Garry Monk has said that he is proud of the progress his team has made since he joined the club. He wrote on Twitter:

Monk joined Leeds United as the head coach in 2016, and has done a remarkable job at Elland Road even though the Whites have failed to make the Championship play-offs this season.

There has been an uncertainty over his future, with his current Leeds contract running out at the end of the season.

The former Swansea manager has the fans and players on his side, but The Sun claimed recently that the 38-year-old may not be handed a new deal.

Monk is undoubtedly one of the best young English managers around, and it will be foolish of the Leeds owners not to back him with a new deal.

At one point of time, it looked like Leeds would comfortably secure play-off places. However, they ran out of steam towards the closing stages of the season.

Leeds are winless in their last four games, but they will be looking to end the season on a high with a victory over Wigan.
