Alfonso Pedraza came off the substitutes’ bench during Leeds United’s defeat against Huddersfield Town.

Leeds United boss Garry Monk has said to Radio Yorkshire that he was impressed by Alfonso Pedraza’s performance against Huddersfield Town.

Leeds brought on Pedraza just after the hour mark at the John Smith’s Stadium, with the scores locked at 1-1.

The Spaniard immediately was in the thick of the action, after he fired a shot on goal from distance.

And he continued to catch the eye throughout his time on the pitch, with his pace coming to the fore.

Pedraza earned widespread praise from Leeds’ fans after the match, and Monk was also pleased with his new addition.

“He was good,” Monk said. “Part of the plan was to play a little bit more in the second half on the counter attack. The only slight criticism is that we didn’t use the first one or two passes well enough. We didn’t find the two lads we brought on to be able to do that better than what we did.”

Despite Pedraza’s impressive display, Leeds did not manage to hold on to claim a point against their Yorkshire rivals.

Huddersfield scored a winner in the last minute, when Michael Hefele prodded into the back of the net.

Huddersfield are now ahead of Leeds in the Championship table, with both sides still aiming to earn promotion this term.
