Leeds United suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Brentford at Griffin Park.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Leeds boss Garry Monk has confirmed to BBC Radio Leeds that Pontus Jansson came through the Whites’ defeat to Brentford unscathed, as did the rest of the group.
The Whites suffered a hugely disappointing 2-0 loss at Griffin Park in a game that arguably could have been a lot worse for Monk’s men had Rob Green not made a number of excellent saves to keep the home team at bay.
With the recent defeat to Reading and the FA charge brought against Liam Cooper, there has been little to cheer about lately for Leeds fans, but Monk has provided one positive when asked whether Jansson – who missed the Reading defeat due to injury – had got through Tuesday’s game without a problem.
“Yeah, the group are fine. In terms of injury-wise, there’s nothing from this game or the last one,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“The group are ready, the group are determined, there’s no one more disappointed with the last two results than ourselves.”
Pontus Jansson of Leeds United
Though the defeat was extremely poor and the defence could not cope with Brentford’s attacking threat, having Jansson available is still a boost.
With Cooper in trouble, Monk does not have the options available to cope with losing another centre-back, and on his day, the Sweden international is undoubtedly an inspirational figure for the side.
And with Leeds going through a small blip at the wrong time, they will surely need Jansson to find his best form over the coming weeks to help get the side back on track.
