The Leeds United skipper is not in contention for the weekend match.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk has been speaking to LUTV ahead of his side’s clash with Norwich City, and among the topics up for discussion was the injury situation involving Whites skipper Liam Bridcutt.
The former Sunderland man missed the recent 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion and Monk has confirmed the 27-year-old is not yet ready to return for Leeds’ make-or-break clash with the Canaries.
“Liam Bridcutt won’t be available, he has a soreness around his Achilles,” Monk told LUTV. “Apart from that, we are as we were for Burton.”
Bridcutt has featured 25 times for Leeds so far this season, however his performances have come under scrutiny and some fans may not be too upset to see him miss out.
That said, his replacement Kalvin Phillips has not exactly set pulses racing as Leeds have slipped up in their push for a play-off place, and it would be no surprise if summer signing Eunan O’Kane returned to the starting line-up at Elland Road.
Leeds simply cannot afford to drop any more points, while hoping one of the teams above them loses at least one of their remaining fixtures.
Monk has had an impressive first season at the helm, but falling at the final hurdle will cut deep, especially with Leeds fans desperate to return to the top flight after far too long away.
