Leeds United are set to welcome Eunan O’Kane and Lewie Coyle back from injury.
Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that Eunan O’Kane and Lewie Coyle are set to play for Leeds United’s development squad, as they step up their comebacks from injury.
Both O’Kane and Coyle have begun training again, after missing many of Leeds’ recent games with fitness problems.
O’Kane has been out since November with a groin injury, and Coyle has been out for over 12 weeks after picking up a knee problem.
However, the pair have both returned to Leeds training in recent times, and Monk is looking to get them back up to speed quickly.
“Eunan is back out, along with Coyley,” Monk said. “It’s good to have them back.
“They’re going to have to have a little bit of training, and some minutes for the under-23’s. It’s good to have them back out of the pitch.”
O’Kane was playing an important role for Leeds before he was injured, but he now faces a fight to win his place back.
The Whites have been in excellent form while the Republic of Ireland international has been out – and he is unlikely to come straight back into Monk’s starting line-up.
Coyle, meanwhile, looks likely to be used as cover at right-back when he does return to full fitness.
Leeds are currently in fifth place in the Championship table, after beating Rotherham United 3-0 in their most recent match.
