Souleymane Doukara helped Leeds United to a 2-0 win on Tuesday.
Garry Monk has told TV Yorkshire that Leeds United forward Souleymane Doukara is really progressing well.
The 25-year-old continues to impress for Leeds and slotted a late penalty as the Whites beat Reading 2-0 on Tuesday night at Elland Road.
Doukara struggled for appearances under Monk early on this season but he is swiftly becoming a very important player, starting United’s last five Championship matches.
And the Leeds boss says that he is really progressing well following his low-profile start to the campaign.
He told TV Yorkshire: “It took him a slow start, but I spoke a lot with him [about] what I expected of him and at this time moment in time he’s really progressing well. He’s got the bit between his teeth and that’s important for all the players.”
The victory helped Leeds up to fifth in the Championship and on course for a playoff spot, but there is still a long way to go yet.
It was an excellent way for Monk’s side to bounce back after going down 2-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion on Friday but, as usual, the 38-year-old manager got a big response from his side and that could be a key facet in their promotion bid.
They’re back at Elland Road on Saturday for the visit of Brentford.
