Leeds United are one of the most in-form sides in the Championship.
Speaking to The City Dweller Magazine, via Inside Futbol, Leeds United boss Garry Monk has responded to a question about his side’s promotion hopes.
Leeds are 11th in the Championship, four points off the top six after what has been a fine turnaround in fortunes by Monk and his staff.
This time last month, the Whites had managed to win one of their first five league games under the 38-year-old, who replaced Steve Evans in the summer.
But fast forward four weeks or so and United have since picked up four Championship wins in the six games since then.
It took a little while but it seems like Monk’s ideas are starting to take effect, but is he laying the foundations for a promotion-winning season?
One of the features of Monk’s young Leeds career is keeping his cards very close to his chest, whether it is in regards to transfers or simply being asked about a player’s performance.
And the ex-Swansea boss was again coy regarding United’s hopes of getting back into England’s top flight, though he did say that he could have “serious players” on his hands if his troops continue to work hard.
He told The City Dweller Magazine (Quoted by Inside Futbol) when asked if his charges could win promotion: “I think they’ve got huge potential
“It’s a very good group of young players and with young players, they’ve got to go through difficult times to get to the other side and be the players they can be.
“I’ve seen the potential, but it’s my job and their job to turn that potential into reality, those guys have to grow up very quickly and become the players that they can be.
“If they do that, we’ll have some very serious players on our hands.”
Leeds visit Derby County when the domestic calendar resumes on Saturday week.
