The Villains’ manager has come under-fire in recent weeks.
Swansea City manager Garry Monk has called for Tim Sherwood to be shown more support in light of recent speculation over his future.
Villa’s poor start to the season has prompted suggestions that the former Spurs boss could be the Premier League’s next managerial casualty – with Monk among those mooted as a potential replacement by the likes of the Telegraph.
The Swans boss dismissed any notion of him taking over at Villa Park and claimed Sherwood deserved better treatment.
“These links don’t help managers,” said Monk, in quotes published by ITV Sport. “Tim’s doing an excellent job and working as hard as I would be.
“You have to let managers get on with their jobs and concentrate and people should be supportive of them as people are with me and my staff.”
Villa host Swansea tomorrow in what has become a vital game for Sherwood and his hopes of a continued stay at the club.
The Villains currently occupy 19th place – having earned four points from their first nine games – and failure to pick up a result on Saturday could force the club’s hierarchy into action.
Sherwood has overseen a summer of upheaval, in which the club lost their two most important players, and time was always going to be needed to bed in the raft of new recruits.
Time is in short supply in football however, and with a change of manager typically correlated with an improvement in results – even if only in the short term – Villa may be tempted to pull the trigger.
