Leeds’ Souleymane Doukara watches as Fulham’s Tim Ream scores an own goal
Leeds United manager Garry Monk has taken to Twitter to react to his side’s 1-1 draw away at Fulham.
The Whites travelled down to Craven Cottage just days after beating Birmingham City 3-1 at St. Andrews, with Garry Monk’s men hopeful of a second straight away win.
Those hopes were boosted early in the game, as a long ball forward for striker Souleymane Doukara was comically sliced into his own net by defender Tim Ream, giving Leeds an early advantage.
Leeds battled away in the face of intense pressure from Fulham, and after Kalvin Phillips was given a red card, Tom Cairney – a former Leeds youngster – haunted his former club by scoring an outstanding long-range goal in injury time.
Leeds were left to wonder what might have been as they departed West London, but with the likes of Reading and Sheffield Wednesday also dropping points, Monk’s side remain fourth in the Championship table.

Fans were understandably disappointed to have dropped two points with virtually the last kick of the game, and manager Monk took to Twitter to send a message to fans.
Monk thanked fans for their support at Craven Cottage, and praised a very good display – but acknowledged that it was tough to take defeat so late in the game.
Assistant boss Pep Clotet also took to Twitter, claiming the point gained is ‘useful’, but the last minute disappointment was a kick in the teeth for the players and fans.
