Leeds United beat Rotherham United 3-0 at Elland Road this afternoon.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has taken to Twitter this evening after the 3-0 home win over Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United, with Pep Clotet and James Beattie also offering their reactions.

The Whites were looking to get back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, and they did just that with a convincing victory over the Millers at Elland Road.

Kyle Bartley put Leeds in front with a powerful header from Pablo Hernandez before Chris Wood added a brace with smart finishes from Liam Bridcutt and Kemar Roofe’s crosses.

Leeds’ superb form under Garry Monk – particularly at Elland Road – has kept Leeds in the play-off places, and with Newcastle losing 1-0 at Blackburn Rovers, the win means that Leeds have closed the gap to the automatic promotion spots to just seven points.

After the final whistle at Elland Road, manager Monk took to Twitter to send a message to fans, and his assistant manager Pep Clotet as well as coach James Beattie also reacted to the latest win.

Monk noted that Leeds’ first half performance wasn’t good enough, but was pleased with the second half reaction, with his side scoring three goals after the break, and wished fans a Happy New Year too.

Clotet was pleased to start 2017 with a win, suggesting it was a ‘great display’ from Leeds, and hailed the amazing support the players received at Elland Road.

Finally, Beattie also criticised the first half display, but felt the second half was much more like the Leeds he wants to see.
