Leeds United have hit a bad run of form at the worst possible time.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Whites boss Garry Monk and key man Pontus Jansson both spoke to the media ahead of their side’s hugely important clash with Norwich City tomorrow, and the pair had extremely different opinions on what constitutes a successful campaign, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Leeds desperately need to win their last two games, if they are to have any chance of forcing their way inside the top six, and with the pressure that will be surrounding those matches, a return of six points will be far from guaranteed.
And Jansson, who joined the Whites in the summer of 2016 on a season-long loan, told reporters how his side’s campaign will have to go down as a failure if they do not make the play-offs and subsequently earn promotion, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post:
“If we don’t reach the play-offs then I won’t see the season as successful. I came here to take Leeds to the play-offs and that was my goal since the first day. If we don’t get there then I’m going to feel a bit sad, of course.”

Monk though, has a vastly contrasting opinion, and explained how this season has been anything but a failure:
“Whatever happens, in my opinion it’s impossible to see anything as a failure this season. It can’t be seen as a failure and I definitely won’t see it like that.”
With fifth placed Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham playing each other on the last day of the season, Leeds do still have an outside chance of making the play-off spots.
Irrespective of where they finish in the table though, Monk’s men have given the fans something to get excited about this season, and they are undoubtedly heading in the right direction.
