Leeds United head coach Garry Monk admitted on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, September 26, 2016) that he is finding it difficult with the constant flow of matches in the Championship.
The Championship is a very tough league, and frequently there are games in midweek.
The West Yorkshire outfit played on Saturday afternoon, and they will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Bristol City away from home at the Ashton Gate Stadium in the Championship.
Monk, who was appointed the Leeds head coach in the summer following the departure of Steve Evans at the end of the 2015-16 season, has admitted that it is difficult to prepare his players due to the number of matches.
“There are so many games back-to-back,” said Monk on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (broadcast from 6am, September 26, 2016).
“The difficulty as a manager is that you don’t get a lot of time on the grass to prepare the team. You spend a lot of time in this league recovering the players ready for the next game.”
Monk is a relatively new manager, and this is the first time that he is in charge of a Championship club.
The former Swansea City boss is still developing and progressing as a manager.
Leeds started the season badly, but the West Yorkshire outfit are doing quite well at the moment and are back in the hunt for a Championship playoff spot.
