Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino experienced one of his worst nights in his managerial career as his team were thumped by Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

For a while now Mauricio Pochettino’s future at Tottenham has been questioned, as numerous names and potential replacements have been bandied about.
One of the most surprising names touted for the Tottenham job was Gareth Southgate, who once described Pochettno as a ‘secret weapon’ for England’s national side, as quoted by The Telegraph.
There’s no surprise that Southgate was so praising of Pochettino because he has helped bring through a number of top players – from Dele Alli, Eric Dier to the main man Harry Kane.
But The Daily Star very strangely claimed that if Pochettino were to leave the North London outfit then they would replace him with the England manager.
Nonetheless, this is what Southgate said about Pochettino in 2017, as he praised him for taking Kane’s game to the next level.
“The quality of finishing took me back to watching Alan Shearer, Robbie Fowler and Paul Scholes. It was ‘OK, can he transfer that into the matches?” Southgate told The Telegraph.
“The biggest change has been physical. Since Mauricio has been there the conditioning work they do has improved the team and Harry has benefited from that.
“It was the same at Southampton. I know Jesus, Mauricio’s assistant, is in charge of that area of their training, and we noticed a definite difference that allowed them to play the pressing game they want to play. There was a definite impact on all the Spurs players from their club training.”

Something spectacular has to happen for Southgate to be Tottenham’s next manager, but there’s no doubt that the Englishman has huge respect for the job Pochettino has done at Spurs.
From guiding them to Champions League football, season after season to bringing the best out of players and highly-rated talents.
The likes of Kane, Alli, Danny Rose, Harry Winks, and the now-departed Kieran Trippier are better players because of Pochettino and his coaching staff.
