The Tottenham Hotspur ace suffered a minor injury whilst away on international duty.
England boss Gareth Southgate spoke to reporters today, and delivered somewhat of a positive injury update on Tottenham star Dele Alli, suggesting that the midfielder will be fit for the north London outfit’s clash with Liverpool on Saturday, as quoted by the London Evening Standard.
Spurs failed to sign any new players during the summer transfer window, so having the 22-year-old back and available for action as soon as possible will be vitally important for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Dele joined Tottenham from MK Dons on transfer deadline day in January 2015, before being immediately loaned back to the League One side.
He has gone on to be a real success at Spurs, chalking up 47 goals and 41 assists in 150 appearances in all competitions.
Pochettino will be hoping that Dele is fit and ready for Saturday’s game against Liverpool – something that Southgate believes is highly likely.
The Three Lions boss spoke to reporters, suggesting that the Tottenham ace’s injury is not serious, as quoted by the London Evening Standard:
“He [Alli] has just had a minor strain and should be fine for his club at the weekend I would think, but tomorrow’s game will come too quickly.”
Tottenham will be desperate to turn over Liverpool on Saturday, but Jürgen Klopp’s men will represent a real challenge for Pochettino’s side, and having Dele available for selection will be a massive boost to their chances of winning the game.
