Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard wanted Dominic Solanke for much of the summer transfer window.

England boss Gareth Southgate must be wishing that Dominic Solanke joined Glasgow Rangers this summer now.

Rangers were heavily linked with Solanke throughout the summer, as reported by the Scottish Sun, but Steven Gerrard’s side failed to get a deal over the line.

Since his failure to move to Ibrox though, Solanke has had a frustrating start to the season at Liverpool.

The young forward looks some way away from the first-team, with Daniel Sturridge resurgent over pre-season.

England are now said to be concerned over Solanke’s lack of game time, according to the Telegraph, as the striker is a player that they had hoped would develop into a future international.

And Southgate must wish that Solanke had got a move north of the border to Glasgow, where he surely would have been playing regularly with Gerrard’s Rangers side.
