The Liverpool star has been excluded from England’s latest squad.

Gareth Southgate has explained the decision to omit Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from his latest England squad, claiming that he ‘hasn’t got going’ yet this season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, a £40 million signing by the Reds in 2017 [The Guardian], will play no part in the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 qualifiers next week after being snubbed by Southgate.
The 26-year-old has made four Premier League appearance for Liverpool this season, totaling 196 minutes as he struggles to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first XI on a regular basis.
The former Arsenal star missed virtually the entire 2018-19 campaign with a knee injury that cost him a place in England’s World Cup campaign last summer, and Southgate admits that he hasn’t seen enough of the former Southampton youth this time around to justify a recall.
Southgate said: “I had a chat with him this morning, last month we brought him back earlier.
“We wanted him to know he has been part of our thoughts and give him a boost – only had a few games since then. Like Dele, season hasn’t got going yet.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain is bound to be rusty after spending so long on the sidelines, but his talent is undeniable and he will undoubtedly be spurred on to make the next England squad in November.
The good news for Liverpool is that in order to do that, he’ll have to impress Klopp and few would back against him doing that.
