Rangers defender Gareth McAuley has told the Official Rangers Podcast that he thinks the training facilities at the club are ‘unbelievable’ – and predicted that very good players will be developed at the club as a result.
The Gers brought in 15 signings following the appointment of Steven Gerrard as their new manager, and the last of those was McAuley back in September.
After being released by West Bromwich Albion at the end of last season, McAuley spent some time looking for a new club, and ended up making a dream move to Glasgow.
McAuley grew up supporting Rangers and, at the age of almost 39, finally joined his boyhood club as he managed to make the move before he decided to hang up his boots.
Having made a couple of substitute appearances, McAuley started for the first time in their 3-0 win over Livingston on Saturday afternoon, and could now feature against Villarreal tonight.
McAuley has been speaking ahead of the game, and suggested that Rangers’ training facilities are ‘unbelievable’, with standards comparable to those in the Premier League.
McAuley added that Rangers have good young players, but predicted that they will develop into ‘very good players’ because the facilities at Rangers are so good.
“Definitely, yes [the standards in training at Rangers are comparable to the Premier League]”, said McAuley. “The facility here is unbelievable and it has got everything any young player needs to develop. The information you get about the teams, everything is here to develop and I have been really impressed with it.”
“We have got good players and we have got good young players as well that are going to develop into very good players for this club,” he added.
