West Bromwich Albion have lost three league games in a row and face Chelsea on Saturday.
West Bromwich Albion midfielder Gareth Barry has claimed that Saturday’s game at home to Chelsea represents the perfect opportunity for his side to kick-start their season.
It has been a challenging commencement to the campaign for West Brom, who are currently in 16th place in the Premier League, and manager Tony Pulis is under a significant amount of pressure.
West Brom face a daunting task as they host last season’s champions Chelsea but Barry is relishing the occasion.
Barry told the club’s official website: “You cant get away from the run we’re on. It’s important that we try and put that right as quickly as possible so that’s our target. Chelsea at home – the current Champions – is obviously a tough game.
“You need that one little moment in a season that can turn things. What better game to do it than against them at home. You can kick on from then.”
West Brom have another tough game away to Tottenham Hotspur next weekend and if they were to suffer two successive defeats then it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if Pulis was to be sacked.
After three consecutive Premier League defeats, it would come as something of a shock if West Brom were to prevail against Chelsea, but they can take inspiration from the fact that the Blues have lost to Crystal Palace and Burnley this season.
The experience of Barry, who has made more Premier League appearances than any other player, could prove useful as Pulis’ team look to bounce back against Chelsea and potentially start to get their season back on track.
