Gareth Barry shares his verdict on two West Brom youngsters, comments on their attitude

Two West Brom youngsters have impressed Gareth Barry.

West Bromwich Albion veteran Gareth Barry has told the Birmingham Mail that he has been ‘very impressed’ with both Sam Field and Rekeem Harper.

The Baggies may have lost to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon, but they remain in the race for promotion back to the Premier League.

West Brom are three points inside the play-offs and seven off automatic promotion, and Darren Moore will remain confident that his side will be in the mix come May.

Moore has bolstered his side with January additions, but he is also being praised for using some of the club’s young, homegrown players.

In West Brom’s side against Middlesbrough, Moore used youngsters Sam Field and Rekeem Harper either side of Gareth Barry in midfield, offering the legs that Barry doesn’t really have at this stage.

Field, 20, has now made 11 appearances so far this season, whilst that was Harper’s ninth game of the campaign, and he notched an assist too.

Now, Barry has suggested that he is ‘very impressed’ with the two youngsters, feeling that their attitude has been ‘spot on’, feeling that they are good options for Moore moving forward.

“I’ve been very impressed, not just recently because they’ve broken into the team but all season really,” said Barry. “They’ve had to be patient, but they’ve kept their attitude spot on, trained really well and waited for their chance. For me, over the past few weeks they’ve really taken it. They’re another good option for the manager,” he added.
