Former Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale is said to want a return to the club, and that’s all that should matter.

According to The Independent, Gareth Bale is willing to return to Tottenham Hotspur.
The report says Bale is willing to take a wage cut, contradicting previous reports that Tottenham’s wage structure could prohibit a deal.
And really, this is the way it was always going to be.

If Gareth Bale has his heart set on ending up back at Tottenham, then that is all that should matter. How much money he would earn should not come into it.
Bale would not be signing for Tottenham because he wants to guarantee himself trophies, if he wanted that then he would sign for Manchester City.
Instead he will be returning for two reasons, the badge, and the football.

His bond with the club is already established, and he is held in high regard still by the fans. That would be tarnished if he joined another English side.
From a football perspective, Tottenham can compete. They showed this when they beat Real earlier this season.
They still have to get over the hurdle of clinching their first silverware, and Bale will know he can help them achieve this.
It is set up perfectly for him, and the prospect of him playing alongside Harry Kane is an exciting prospect for supporters.
And then there is the new stadium for Bale to bring to life.
Wages should not even come into it, Tottenham have everything Bale needs.
If he has decided he wants to make his comeback, then that should be enough to seal it; compromising on wages was and is an inevitable by-product of his choice.
