Spanish report claims Tottenham are Gareth Bale’s first choice.

Spanish outlet Diario Gol report Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has decided he wants to rejoin Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

It is claimed Bale has decided he does not want to stay at Real next season and views Tottenham as his favoured destination.

Manchester United are in the hunt but Bale reportedly was not impressed with their Champions League exit at the hands of Sevilla this week, and that has made up his mind to focus his effort on Tottenham.

Bale had previously been unconvinced about Spurs but he now reportedly has been assured that they are at least the equals of United with regard to their ability to compete in the Champions League.

He is also concerned Jose Mourinho may not last in a job at United after the midweek result.

The Wales international has won three Champions League trophies with Real Madrid and will want to continue to compete in Europe’s elite competition.

During his previous spell at Spurs, they qualified for the competition just once, but they have now made it in for the last two seasons and are on course currently to secure a third.

Bringing back Bale would be incredible for Spurs as they move back into their new stadium, but it won’t be easy to accomplish financially.

Diario Gol report Real want to get as much of the £86 million they paid for Bale back as possible, despite his injury problems, while the winger would have to take a substantially reduction in wages to fit into Tottenham’s strict payment structure.
