Leeds United have a number of players out on loan at the moment, and sadly, many of them aren’t doing too well.

Helder Costa is struggling at Valencia, Kun Temenuzhkov isn’t making his mark in the Spanish lower leagues, while Kiko Casilla isn’t having the best of times at Elche, conceding 13 goals in 11 games, keeping just three clean sheets.

However, perhaps the most disappointing Leeds loanee this season has been Leif Davis.

The left-back was expected to be one of the next big things at Elland Road, he’s been compared to Gareth Bale by Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth in the past and he’s even earned a rave review from Kalvin Phillips.

“One of the players we haven’t seen much of yet, but we will get to see is, in the future definitely, Leif Davis.” Phillips said on the Leeds That podcast (via LeedsLive).

“He’s that good of a player. If he just settled down a little bit and screwed his head on a little bit he’d be up there as one of the best left-backs, left midfielders, centre-halves we’ve got.”

Despite the fact Phillips tipped Davis for big things, he was loaned out at the start of the season and he’s not doing enough to impress Marcelo Bielsa.

To put it bluntly, Davis hasn’t been getting the chances at Bournemouth. He’s only played five times and one of those performances came on the right-wing, a position he isn’t used to playing.

Leeds will have hoped that a loan to the Championship would have been exactly what Davis needed to kick on and reach the next level, but unfortunately, he’s failing to make any sort of impact.

Marcelo Bielsa certainly isn’t going to sit up and take notice of Davis if he can’t break into the Bournemouth team soon.
