It is coming up to four years since Gareth Bale quit Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid in a world record move.

Bale has two Champions League winners’ medals to show for it, and he is convinced he made the right decision.

Speaking this week to The Mail, Bale said that he could not turn down the chance.

He felt he had proved his quality in England, despite failing to win any silverware with Tottenham.

He said: “I was young enough. I thought it was a good time. I wanted to learn more about my game. I felt like I’d proved myself in the Premier League and when Real Madrid come calling, the biggest club in the world, you can’t say no.

‘It’s one of those experiences you need to grab with both hands. I think it was the right decision, with two Champions Leagues in the cabinet.”

Bale has the opportunity to add another too, with Real seeking to defend their crown.

The 27-year-old starred in the midweek win over Napoli with his side winning 3-1. This season he has scored nine goals in 21 games.

His former side Tottenham were rocked by his departure in 2013, and took a couple of seasons to rebuild.

Now they look as strong as ever, and can only dream of how good they could be with Bale added into their starting XI.
