Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has had to play a back-up role to Danny Rose for the majority of the games this season.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has praised the ‘improving’ Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies and stated that Wales are ‘lucky’ to have him.
Left-back Davies has only started one Premier League game for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, but on Thursday, he earned some much-needed game time when he started Wales’ 1-1 draw against Slovakia.
Saying that he did start Tottenham’s last game against Brighton, but for the most part, he has played a back-up role to Danny Rose this term.
Nonetheless, as posted on Tottenham News’ Twitter account, Bale had nothing but kind words to say about his Welsh teammate.
“Ben has been fantastic since he has come in, he has been a consistent performer,” said Bale. “He keeps improving every year and we are lucky to have him in the squad with us.”

Davies is in action for Wales tonight with Ryan Giggs’ side taking on Croatia in a pretty tough yet crucial Euro 2020 qualifier in front of their own supporters.
The Spurs man, who has watched his club side endure a number of nightmare results and performances, will be hoping for a positive result on the international stage.
When Davies returns to club action, he will more than likely start for Pochettino because he started their previous match, but his manager can still rotate with league and Champions League games coming thick and fast.
