The Everton left-back will hope that he can still have a future at the club.
Luke Garbutt has yet to feature in the Premier League for Everton this season but that could be set to change in the near future.
The left-back, who has been an Everton player since joining from Leeds United in 2009, wasn’t included in The Toffees’ 25-man Premier League squad for the first half of the campaign.
However, Garbutt will hope to impress manager Sam Allardyce in the coming weeks as he looks to ensure that he is part of the club’s plans for the remainder of the season.
Garbutt, an excellent crosser of the ball, has gained much experience in recent years during loan spells with Cheltenham Town, Colchester United, Fulham and Wigan Athletic, while he has made 12 competitive first-team appearances for Everton in total.
With Leighton Baines in the latter stages of his career and Cuco Martina struggling to perform consistently, there could well be an opportunity for Garbutt to get back into favour at Everton.
Garbutt hasn’t been training with the Everton first-team squad this season and has instead been with the U23s, but he could now be given the opportunity to prove to Allardyce that he can be a dependable performer.
The 24-year-old is at the stage in his career where he now needs to be playing regularly and it will be intriguing to see what his next step will be.
