Wolverhampton Wanderers hopes of signing coveted Portugal defender Joao Cancelo look doomed.
According to the likes of The Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers wanted the right-back – who can also play as a winger – who is valued at £35 million.
The Portugal defender, 24, spent last season on loan from Valencia at Inter Milan in Serie A helping the club qualify for the Champions League.

Cancelo worked closely with Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo when the pair were together at Valencia and the Mail says the player credits the his old boss with playing a major part in his development.
Newly-promoted Wolves were hoping to take advantage of their links to Jorge Mendes after reports claimed Cancelo had asked the super agent to ‘get the wheels in motion’ – as reported by The Birmingham Mail.
Interest from Italian giants Juventus looked to have killed Wolverhampton Wanderers’ hopes of signing Cancelo last week.
But there was a glimmer of hope for Nuno after a report from Sky Sports Italia claimed a move to the Italian champions had stalled.
Those hopes look to have been extinguished now, though, after multiple Italian sources claimed Cancelo’s move to Juventus was ‘down to the fine details’ – as reported by Football Italia.
“Juve dived in and struck a deal for the Portugal international, despite interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers,” Football Italia reports,” Football Italia reports.
“Valencia agreed a slight discount on their £35 million asking price and it’s expected to be a definitive sale rather than a loan with obligation to buy.”
