‘Dangerous’: Manager sends message amid rumours Leeds & West Ham want his player

Mark Warburton has stated how the transfer market is a ‘game of poker’ and a ‘dangerous one’ amid rumours that the likes of Leeds and West Ham want to sign his top talent Eberechi Eze.

The QPR boss shared that his side needs to bring in players before they can consider selling Ez and he hopes to come out on the ‘winning side’, as he told talkSPORT.

There are a number of clubs who are keen on Eze’s signature, including the likes of Leeds, West Ham and Crystal Palace [Mirror].

It does seem as though Eze will be heading to the Premier League this summer, it’s just a case of which teams puts the money on the table for his services.

“If we sell a player first, people assume you are cashing in. You sell a player for £15m-£18m ‘oh they must be cashing in,” Warburton told talkSPORT.

“We know the financial landscape is such that owners are writing cheques every month, so the money gets absorbed into the costs.

“You’ve got to try and do your business as early as you can or you run the risk of levels not being reached and players staying with you. It’s a game of poker and a dangerous one. You hope very much you can come out on the winning side. It’s not an easy challenge, that’s for sure.”

Eze is an energetic and typically modern-day playmaker, who likes to get on the front foot and drive at opposing defences.

He has a great knack of making the opposition drop back with his directness, quick feet, pace and ability to stay composed when in the final third.

West Ham, Crystal and Leeds could do with his services because he can also play various roles from a number 10, number eight or even out wide.

When it comes to transfers, there are some players who prefer to stay or move to London, so that may work in favour of Palace and the Hammers.

But if it’s down to the money then it’s a case of who is willing to take a big risk and showcase that they mean serious business ahead of the new campaign.
