West Brom fans were left wowed by Arsenal loanee Ainsley Maitland-Niles on Monday night.
The Arsenal academy product helped WBA record a crucial 3-0 win over Southampton in their battle to stay in the Premier League.
At the start of the campaign, Maitland Niles would have felt that this was going to be the season where he would become a regular at Arsenal.
But he found himself heading for the exit door in January to search for regular minutes, strangely enough, not long after becoming an England international.
The difficult option was selected by the 23-year-old and that was a relegation battle with the Baggies, who have been sitting in the bottom three for large parts of the season.
It was a bit of a slow-burner for the versatile defender at West Brom, but it seems as though those in the Midlands are now beginning to change their minds about him.
If AMN can do the business at the Hawthorns then he may just become more popular with the West Brom fans than those from North London.
Two wins in two, including putting five past Chelsea last time out, certainly helps West Brom’s cause, who are eight points from safety.
On paper, it seems as though the Houdini of football – Sam Allardyce – will find it difficult to escape this survival act.
But this is why his expertise were brought in, and with back-to-back wins on the table, it will get some wondering if the escape can be pulled off.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of West Brom fans reacting to Maitland-Niles’ performance last night:
