Prince Abdullah is looking to acquire a 100 per cent stake in Sheffield United.

Sheffield United fans have delivered a mixed responds to news of a potential buy-out by 50 per cent stake holder, Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
According to a club statement, Prince Abdullah, of the Saudi royal family, has served a notice to exercise his option – which was agreed in August 2013 – to purchase the remaining 50 per cent of Blades Leisure Limited group from Sheffield United Limited, and negotiations between the Prince and Kevin McCabe are said to be ongoing.
Eighth-placed United have exceeded expectation in their first season back in League One, and some Blades fans believe a deal could see Prince Abdullah release extra funds with which to take their club into the Premier League – should they fail to do so this season.

On the other hand, however, there are others who feel the loss of McCabe, a local businessman who first acquired a 10 per cent stake in Sheffield United 23 years ago, could have a destabilising effect.
