Wales exited the European Championships on Wednesday night in a 2-0 semi-final defeat against Portugal
The Dragons battled well against Ronaldo and co for the first half, and there was little between the two teams as they went into the break at 0-0.
But in the second period Portugal were just a little more savvy, and once Ronaldo rose above James Chester to open the scoring Wales found it difficult to create a genuine chance to get back in the game.
When Nani diverted another Ronaldo effort past Wayne Hennessey, it looked unlikely that there would be a way back into it for Chris Coleman’s men.
In truth, aside from a few Gareth Bale efforts from range, Wales had plenty of possession but were unable to really trouble a resolute defence once they went behind.
There was plenty of effort demonstrated and Wales certainly didn’t jeopardise the impression that they have become one of Europe’s better sides, but without Aaron Ramsey in midfield they were lacking that little bit of quality linking attack to the midfield.
