It looked like Stuart Pearce’s side would maintain that record when Britt Assombalonga scored on the turn in the 72nd minute.
But an equaliser from Ryan Shotton ensured the honours were shared and means Forest are now just a point behind Norwich City at the top of the table.
Derby climbed up to 10th and will be pleased with their overall performance, as they had more possession, more corners and more shots on target than their hosts.
Good play from Michail Antonio found Assombalonga in the box and the striker made no mistake, but a header from Richard Keogh that rebounded off the bar enabled Shotton to score, although Leon Best followed up to ensure there was no debate after Karl Darlow had scrambled the ball out.
