The Whites were beaten 2-1 by the Potters at the Bet 365 Stadium as Sam Clucas and Joe Allen ensured Ezgjan Alioski’s goal was just a consolation.

Leeds United’s lead at the top of the Championship table has remained at just one point following their 2-1 defeat at Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
Norwich City, the Whites’ title rivals, trimmed the lead at the summit from four points to one thanks to their 3-1 triumph over playoff-chasing Birmingham City on Friday night.
During the game at the Bet365 stadium, Leeds were level at the break but Sam Clucas gave Nathan Jones’ side the lead in the 49th minute when he poked a cross home.
The visitors’ task of drawing level was made even harder when referee Gavin Ward controversially showed Pontus Jansson a second yellow card in the 76th minute.
Stoke all but killed off the game two minutes from time through Joe Allen before Ezgjan Alioski headed home what turned out to be a consolation deep into injury time.
Here are some images from the game, including the dejection felt by the Leeds contingent and Clucas’ controversial celebration in which he appears to be making a shushing gesture:

Up next for Leeds is Rotherham United away next Saturday, with the Millers sitting just two points above the relegation zone, so it could prove a very tense encounter for the two sides for very different reasons.
