The Magpies ace opened his league account for the club in the 2-0 win over Burnley.

Newcastle United have taken another big step forward in their fight against Premier League relegation thanks to their 2-0 win over Burnley on Tuesday night.
The Clarets came to St James’ Park unbeaten in eight league games but their resistance broke after just 24 minutes through an impressive Fabian Schar strike from range which went in off the post.
Burnley, who have picked up more points this calendar year than Liverpool, then fell further behind minutes before the break when they failed to clear Matt Ritchie’s cross and Sean Longstaff pounced for his first Magpies league goal.
Newcastle’s goals came without a reply from the opposition, who were restricted to just two shots on target and spurned a great chance when James Tarkowski fired over from inside the six-yard area.
The Magpies’ second successive win and fourth successive home league triumph lifts them above Sean Dyche’s side and into 13th place in the table, seven points above the relegation zone.
It was a great evening on Tyneside all round, but certainly a memorable one for Longstaff, who has come in leaps and bounds over the past few months to the point he is ahead of several veteran players in the club’s midfield pecking order.
Here are some of the key photos from the night, including Longstaff’s joy at scoring his first league goal for Newcastle:
