Aston Villa beat Ipswich 2-1 in 2001.

This was a Premier League clash and was Villa’s first win at the time in more than two months, a relief for then manager John Gregory.

At the weekend the two teams do battle in the Championship, with Ipswich relegated in 2002 and Aston Villa in 2016.

In goal for Villa was Peter Schmeichel, with J’Lloyd Samuel, Alan Wright, Olof Mellberg and Steve Staunton lining up at the back.
