Everton turned on the style in front of new manager Sam Allardyce in the 4-0 drubbing of West Ham United.
Wayne Rooney could not have endeared himself to new Everton boss Sam Allardyce better.
Allardyce, appointed as Ronald Koeman’s successor today after a lengthy month-long search, was in attendance at Goodison Park tonight to watch Rooney smash a hat-trick against West Ham United and remind Everton fans of David Unsworth’s questionable recent decisions.
The caretaker manager had dropped the 32-year-old for the last two Premier League games, but the boyhood Toffee proved his worth with a fine performance – including a stunning 60-yard third to complete his treble – at Goodison.
In doing so, Rooney surely made himself the first name on Allardyce’s team sheet on Saturday as Huddersfield Town visit Merseyside.
Below, the 63-year-old can be seen sitting with Director of Football Steve Walsh and owner Farhad Moshiri ahead of kick off.

Ashley Williams added the hosts’ fourth on 78 minutes and all of a sudden Everton have recaptured the type of optimism which preceded their Premier League campaign, after spending some £150 million on transfers.
Consequence of the win, they climbed five points clear of the relegation zone and supporters will surely believe that they will only be looking up again from here on in.
