Wolverhampton Wanderers ran out 3-1 winners over the Toffees in a Premier League game temporarily disrupted by a cat’s pitch invasion.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have made it three Premier League wins in a row and consolidated their hold on seventh place in the table thanks to a solid 3-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park.
The visitors took the lead after just seven minutes after Leighton Baines clipped the leg of Matt Doherty in the area, prompting referee Lee Mason to award a penalty, which Ruben Neves duly stroked into the bottom corner of Jordan Pickford’s net.
Marco Silva’s charges managed to draw level on 27 minutes through Andre Gomes, who collected a layoff from Cenk Tosun before firing a fierce effort into the top corner of Rui Patricio’s net from range.
Michael Keane’s tug on Diogo Jota’s shirt shortly before the break yielded a free kick for Wolves and Joao Moutinho’s delivery fell perfectly for Raul Jimenez to nod home for his 11th goal of the season.
On 65 minutes, Jonny Otto triggered a swift counterattack which ended with Jimenez slipping the ball through for Jota, who saw his effort charged down only for Leander Dendoncker to volley home his first for the club.
The game was stopped for around three minutes in the second half to remove a black cat from the pitch, although it did end up lifting the mood somewhat among the home fans, while the away contingent will surely have commented about the animal connection – a cat among the Wolves.
