The Whites are back in the Championship’s top two thanks to Saturday’s 1-0 win over the Robins at Ashton Gate.

Leeds United responded superbly to the pressure placed on them by their Championship title rivals with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon.
The day before, Norwich City went five points clear at the top of the table with their 1-0 win over Swansea City, while Sheffield United had beaten Rotherham United 2-0 in the lunchtime kickoff at Bramall Lane, nudging the Whites into third.
Leeds simply had to deliver in the south west and luckily Patrick Bamford settled nerves early on by netting in the ninth minute, converting Luke Ayling’s knockdown from close range for his fourth goal in as many games.
Bamford’s goal turned out to be the winner, and although stats show the Robins weren’t particularly daunting opposition in the end, they applied plenty of pressure in the latter stages of the match, which made for a very nervy finish.
Nevertheless, Leeds kept firm at the back and held on for all three points, which put them back up to second and two points behind the Canaries with just 10 games left of the season.
