Dean Smith’s charges are now in the Championship playoff picture after putting three past Boro at Villa Park.

Aston Villa have surged into the Championship playoffs as they hammered a faltering Middlesbrough side 3-0 in Saturday’s Championship encounter at Villa Park.
Dean Smith’s charges have now won four league games in a row and dominated against Tony Pulis’s outfit, boasting more than 60 percent possession and 18 shots throughout the game (Sky Sports).
Villa got off the mark just before the half hour mark as Anwar El Ghazi latched on to John McGinn’s square pass, picked his spot and finished clinically.
The provider then got himself on the scoresheet just before half time, his run towards goal culminating in a low finish into the bottom corner past Darren Randolph.
After substitute Britt Assombalonga had missed Boro’s best chance, heading wide from inside the area, Albert Adomah scored on the rebound in the 88th minute after Jonathan Kodjia’s effort was parried by Randolph to make it another happy matchday for the resurgent Villans and their fans.
Here are some of the key photos from the game, including one of El Ghazi showing love to the Villa badge and fans, showing how much the Lille loanee has taken to life at the historic club:

Up next for Villa is their Championship clash at home against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 30 March.
