Well, speculation about Cody Gakpo to Liverpool could be about to get a lot more intense.
The 23-year-old is enjoying a blinding World Cup and earlier this week, scored a cracking opening goal after only five minutes in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Ecuador.
According to Calciomercato, Liverpool have already made contact with PSV Eindhoven over bringing their prized asset to Anfield.
And according to a Dutch television presenter now, Gakpo has effectively already ‘gone’ from the Eredivisie outfit – and is heading to the Premier League.
Hans Kraay has told ESPN that the £40 million-rated winger has an admirer in the form of Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders – and is now ‘chasing’ a transfer to Merseyside.

He said: “Gakpo is gone. PSV are not going to keep him, and cannot keep him anymore. Gakpo will soon be playing in the Premier League. The chance that it will be Manchester United is now a lot higher again, because Cristiano Ronaldo has left.
“They have even more money available. At Liverpool, assistant Pepijn Lijnders is charmed by him, so he is chasing Jürgen Klopp. Yes, Gakpo is gone.”

If Kraay is right and he’s already thought to have sealed a move to the Premier League, the Reds’ fanbase will be hoping it’s to them.
Yes, he’s quite expensive for someone unproven outside of the Netherlands, but just look at his numbers.
According to Transfermarkt, he has 13 goals and 17 assists from 24 appearances for PSV already this season.
For a wide player, his statistics are remarkable and no wonder Lijnders is charmed by him at Liverpool.
