Leeds United are seven points behind second-placed Newcastle United in the Championship.
Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi has suggested to The Yorkshire Evening Post that he and his teammates are not thinking about automatic promotion yet.
The West Yorkshire outfit are going strong in the Championship at the moment and are in the running for a top-six finish.
The Whites are currently fifth in the standings with 45 points from 25 matches.
Garry Monk’s side are seven points behind second-placed Newcastle United, who got relegated from the Premier League.

Berardi, who is 28 years of age and can operate as a right-back or as a left-back, has stated that he and his Leeds teammates are focused only on clinching a place in the playoffs.
“For now we think about the play-offs because the table is very close between six or seven teams,” Berardi told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “The first two are a lot of points in front of us. But we can do much better than we are doing I think.
“The target is to win every game because there are a lot of teams behind us and a lot of teams in front of us. It’ll be hard to stay in this position but if we play like we have been then we can do it.”

Leeds have a good bunch of players who seem to have embraced the ideas and philosophy of head coach Monk.
It is not going to be easy for the Whites to maintain their position in the playoffs in the coming weeks and months, though.
The players need to be focused and take one game at a time in order to end the campaign in the playoffs.
