Leeds United defender Gaetano Berardi has started regularly at left-back this season.

Berardi has played out of position on the left hand side of defence this season, and has been picked regularly by Thomas Christiansen.
The Elland Road cult hero may not have reached his top form so far this term, but he remains a very popular figure with supporters.

However, Berardi suggests that Leeds need a better left-back than him, if they are to achieve promotion.
He said: “It is not my normal position, but, like every year, I try to do my best.
“I know probably this team needs a better player than me, but I just want to play and do my best every Saturday.”
Leeds actually do have more natural options at left-back, in the form of Vurnon Anita and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, but Berardi has kept them both out of the team.

Berardi’s passionate performances make him an important member of the Whites first-team, and he has helped Christiansen’s side move into play off contention.
Leeds are currently in seventh place in the Championship table, and have put together some impressive results recently.
Leeds are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Hull City at Elland Road.
