Ex-Rangers loanee Gael Bigirimana has joined Motherwell.
New Motherwell signing Gael Bigirimana has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he has unfinished business in Scotland after his dismal spell with Rangers.
Midfielder Bigirimana was released by Coventry City at the end of last season, and he has now penned a two-year contract with Motherwell as he makes his return to Scotland.
The Burundi international, formerly of Newcastle United will now look to kickstart his career at Fir Park, and attempt to finally make an impact in Scotland having failed to impress with Rangers.
Gael Bigirimana looks dejected
After struggling for first-team football with Newcastle, Bigirimana was sent out on loan to Rangers in February 2015 – but Gers fans would be forgiven for almost entirely forgetting about his time at Ibrox.
The 23-year-old didn’t make a single appearance for Rangers as he struggled for form and fitness before heading back to Newcastle in the summer of 2015 without even kicking a ball at Ibrox.
Bigirimana has struggled to settle since then, and he will now have the chance to haunt Rangers when Motherwell host Pedro Caixinha’s men on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership season next month.
Now, Bigirimana has spoken to the Glasgow Evening Times about his move to Motherwell, and admitted that he has ‘unfinished business’ having struggled to make an impact with Rangers.

Bigirimana admitted that he is looking forward to playing against Rangers in just a matter of weeks, and whilst he didn’t enjoy much success on the pitch, he enjoyed a ‘great experience’ at Ibrox.
“You can say I have unfinished business,” said Bigirimana. “The first time I came to Scotland I loved the place. It’s nice people, so we will see how this turns out. It was difficult. Hopefully the fans that never got to see me play will have the chance now, but probably against them [Rangers] on the first day.”
“You can say it was hard because as a player you want to play games. I ended up staying at Rangers for five months just running around in training. I had to learn from it, even though I didn’t play, it was a great experience and great people I met there,” he added.
