Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has described Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as a phenomenon on Instagram following his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Villa played out a goalless draw with Wolves at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Martinez, who joined Villa from Arsenal in the summer of 2020, had yet another good game between the posts.

The Argentine goalkeeper denied Pedro Neto and Conor Coady and played a big role in Dean Smith’s side picking up a point from the encounter.

Martinelli played with Martinez at Arsenal, and the Brazilian forward has responded to the 28-year-old goalkeeper’s Instagram post and has described him as ‘fenomeno’ (which when translated from Spanish means ‘phenomenon’).

The draw with Wolves means that Villa are now ninth in the Premier League table with 40 points from 26 matches.

The Villans are seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who have played 27 games.

Smith’s team are still very much in the running for the Champions League places in the Premier League table this season.

Villa will return to action this coming Friday when they take on Newcastle United away from home at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
